Farwell Team takes Tenth at the Soo
Tommie Bauer Racing of Farwell, Mich., turned in solid performance at the 44th Annual I-500 Snowmobile Race in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., February 4, 2012. Backed by drivers Cody Badour of Lake, Mich., and Chad Bauer of Farwell Mich., the team finished 10th on an Arctic Cat 21 laps behind winners Gabe Bunke and co-drivers Aaron Christensen and Bobby Menne of Moorhead Minn. who captured the checkered flag on a Polaris.
Badour the son of former Alpena Thunder Bay 250 winner, Ed Badour of Lake, drove over 470 miles of the 500 mile race. Incredibly fast he would lead early on for 76 laps until a broken rear suspension 260 laps into the race dropped the team down to 17th place. In 11 short minutes Bauer’s pit crew changed the suspension, spark plugs, clutch and put on a new belt before sending Badour back out to race. Down but not out the team used the remaining laps to claw their way up the field and on to a very respectable finish.
Tommie Bauer Racing is currently second in total competition miles driven at the at the famed race. Over the years the team has amassed 9,712 miles under various drivers only second to Team Chippewa of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., who currently has 12,583 miles. All of Bauer’s miles have come on Arctic Cat’s The team qualified eighth for the race with Badour posting a two lap average speed of 87.574 m.p.h.

Taking advantage of what they learned from this years race, the team is working hard to make 2013 the year they hope will put an Arctic Cat in the Winners circle at the Soo for only the second time in race history. The 45th Annual I-500 is set for February 3, 2013
