Harrison man charged with CSC
Responding to a complaint filed with the Clare County Sheriff’s Department, Hector Luis Mass, age 32, of Harrison was arrested February 3 and charged with one count each of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first and second degree, involving a 13 year old Harrison girl.
Criminal sexual conduct in the first and second degree typically apply to conduct involving personal injury to the victim, the use or threatened use of force, violence or a dangerous weapon; or victims who are extremely young. The maximum penalty for first degree CSC is 30 years and/or a $40,000 fine. The maximum penalty for second degree CSC is 25 years and/or a $35,000 fine.
After an interview with Mass February 3, the suspect was arrested and lodged in the Clare County jail.
Investigating officer Detective Sgt. Mike Coon said, “The alleged crime has been going on since the victim was either 8 or 9 but for sure the past 2 years. It occurred at the home of Hector Mass in Harrison.”
He was charged by Clare County Prosecuting Attorney Michelle Ambrozaitis. Mass was arraigned in 80th District Court on February 6 and his bond was set at 1 million dollars.
He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.
