Dear Mike, What a shame for the Village of Farwell to send our only “patrol a packing”. Many visitors and citizens depend on them for info as well as safety, especially in the crime we all live in. We country folks pay dear on taxes so the city folks feel much safer? We see the raises you gave, yet our security doesn’t matter? “Shame On You” We country folks sure do miss your paper. I like most persons in this county presumed that when you call 911 for a medical emergency help would be sent forthwith. Unfortunately that is not always the case here is our pleasant part of the world. I found this out through some research after the loss of my brother in law. He called 911, which got him to Clare Central Dispatch, who you would think dispatches the ambulance…they do not. Surprisingly, the long dreary winter month of February is almost over once again. Next Tuesday another February will slip into history. And, it seemed to go by much faster than usual this year, but I’m not sure why that is. Plans are underway to renovate and restore the Surrey House, considered to be the oldest historic landmark in Harrison. According to information from the Middle Michigan Development Corporation, the economic development plans for the more 130 year old building were the brain child of the Small Business Initiative Council, a grass roots organization comprised of economic development agencies, civic organizations, workforce development organizations and representatives from education, the United States Department of Agriculture and Consumers Energy.
