Sexton charged with CSC against two children
A 64 year-old Harrison man was arraigned by Judge Joshua Ferrell in 80th District Court Friday for molesting two youngsters.
William Sexton, Jr. was interviewed and arrested March 22 when the Clare County Sheriff’s Department investigated a complaint that the suspect had been sexually assaulting two minor children for several years.
He was lodged in the Clare County Jail facing four counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and two counts of CSC in the second degree. His bond was set at $1 million dollars cash/surety.
First degree CSC is a felony punishable by from 25 years to life imprisonment. Second degree CSC is a felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.
Clare County Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis said the $1 million bond was sought “based on seriousness of the offenses …and the relationship to the victims.” Both were under 13 when the events took place, she said.
If Sexton is able to post bond, conditions of that bond will include no contact with children under the age of 18; GPS tracking; No alcohol/controlled substances unless they are prescribed; mental health assessment prior to release; and no firearms, Ambrozaitis reported.
A first-time preliminary exam (pretrial conference) has been set for April 2 at 2 p.m.
