Harrison man charged with shooting at train
A March 8 incident involving shots being fired at a train led to the Wednesday arrest of a 21 year-old Harrison man.
The gunfire was reportedly discharged from a vehicle stopped near a railroad crossing near Surrey Road east of M-115 in Surrey Township. The bullets made impact impressions on the passenger compartment of the engine, according to information from the Mt. Pleasant State Police, who cooperated with Clare County Sheriff’s Deputies in an attempt to locate the vehicle and suspect. With a clear description of the vehicle from the victim, officers located the suspect, who was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Isabella County. .
Zolton Nagy III, who was also found in possession of marijuana, methamphetamines and analogues, was arrested March 14 at a friend’s home in Lincoln Township. He confessed to firing a .22 caliber rifle at the train multiple times.
Nagy was arraigned Thursday in 80th District Court on charges of firearm discharge from a vehicle, a four-year felony; possession of methamphetamines, a ten-year felony; and controlled substance possession – diazepam, a two-year felony.
Nagy was lodged in the Clare County Jail.
