200 pot plants seized in Lake
Ronald Eugene Cramer, 50, of Lake has been jailed for the manufacturing and delivery of marijuana.
Cramer was arrested April 10 after a joint investigation by the Clare County Sheriff’s Department and the Bay Area Narcotics Team (BAYANET) served a search warrant on his home on Alpine Drive.
Sheriff John Wilson said Deputy Ryan Schmidt started the investigation after receiving a tip about the grow operation at Cramer’s home on April 9. The CCSD asked BAYANET for their assistance. “It was good police work,” Wilson said Wednesday.
He estimated the street value of the marijuana plants at up to $200,000.
During the search nearly 200 marijuana plants and a large amount of processed marijuana was found as well as a large amount of cash, guns, motorcycles, ORVs and a snowmobile. All were seized during the investigation.
Cramer was arraigned Wednesday in 80th District Court on four counts:
- § One count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture 5-45 Kilograms of marijuana (20 plants or more but less than 200), a felony with sentence of seven years and/or $500,000.
- § One count of Weapons – Felony Firearm possession at the time he committed or attempted to commit a felony, a felony with a sentence of two years with mandatory forfeiture of weapons,
- § One County of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture of Marijuana, a felony punishable by 4 year and/or a $20,000 fine.
- § One count of Controlled Substance – Maintaining a drub house, a High Court Misdemeanor punishable by 2 years and/or $25,000.
Cramer’s bond was set at $40,000 cash/surety. His preliminary exam was set for April 23 at 2 p.m. He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.
