Farwell High School announces Valedictorian/Salutatorian
Ben Barnhart is the son of Scott and Sabine Barnhart. He is currently involved in baseball and NHS. He has previously been involved in football, basketball, and track. His hobbies include fishing, playing sports, reading, and being with friends. Ben is employed at Jared’s Express Mart and Barnhart Enterprises. He plans to attend Northwood University to pursue a Finance Degree. Some of his top high school awards include: JPC All Academic First Team, Presidential Outstanding Achievement, Triple Threat Scholar Athlete, JPC All Conference athlete, Academic Bar and Letter, and Most Valuable Player in football award. He was also Farwell’s Wendy’s Heisman Male School Winner and the VFW Voice of Democracy district winner. Because of Ben’s success in his dual enrollment classes at MMCC, he was inducted this spring into MMCC’s Phi Theta Kappa. He will graduate high school with 29 college credits completed. Furthermore, he has earned the Northwood Merit Scholarship for $52,000 over 4 years, and the Northwood DeVos Scholarship for $20,000 over 4 years. His plan is to achieve both his Bachelor’s Degree and his Master’s Degree in three years by taking an accelerated program. Val
Lyndsay Ruckle is the daughter of Dave and Kristin Ruckle. She is currently involved in softball, class council, and yearbook. She has previously been involved in volleyball, basketball, blood drives, and has participated in mock accidents. Her hobbies include softball, basketball, volleyball, playing summer softball for Linedrive, and yearbook. Lyndsay plans to attend Alma College to play softball and pursue a degree in Athletic Training and Pre-Physical Therapy. Her top high school awards include: Presidential Outstanding Achievement Award, Triple Threat Scholar Athlete, All Conference Athlete in three sports, All District athlete, Saginaw News All Area Athlete, and Academic Bar and Letter. She was Farwell’s female recipient of the Wendy’s Heisman Award. She is also inducted into the Farwell Athletic Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in volleyball, basketball, and softball. Currently, Lyndsay has earned the Kiwanis Scholarship as well as the Dean Scholarship at Alma College that is worth $12,000.
