One year old dies after he is hit by a truck
A 13-month old boy died Sunday morning when he was run over by a van, according to information from the Clare County Sheriff’s Department.
Kyle John Edward Counts of Royal Oak was visiting family on Robin Street in Greenwood Township when the accident happened around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
The youngster was hit by a 2002 full size Dodge van driven by a 57-year-old Harrison man. His name is being withheld pending possible charges according to Clare County Sheriff John Wilson.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene by United Rescue Ambulance attendants.
Wilson said the baby’s parents were at the home and his father was in the garage while four youngsters, ages 9, 7, and four and the 13-month old were playing on a swing. The father was putting air in a tire when the driver of the van pulled into the driveway and hit the baby who had come into the drive. He said alcohol could have been a factor in the accident.
The incident is still under investigation
