Updated – Truck slams into Amish Buggy
There were no serious injuries when an Amish buggy and pickup collided in Clare Tuesday afternoon.
Clare Police Chief Dwayne Miedzianowski said the accident happened around 2 p.m. when a GMC truck driven by Dick VanDeusen hit the buggy from behind.
Both the buggy and truck were northbound on Business U.S. 127 just north of Witbeck’s.
Miedzianowski said VanDeusen was about to pass the buggy when he saw a vehicle on his left. He was unable to stop and hit the buggy pushing it into the oncoming southbound lanes. The buggy ended up rolling on its side, but was not hit by any other vehicle.
Five adults and a five-year old were in the buggy. They were checked out and released with minor injuries, Miedzianowski said.
VanDeusen was cited for following too closely.

Pretty sure that isn’t Rynearson. It looks like White.
I thought White was on medical leave. Isn’t that Rynearson in the yellow vest? If so, he has no business being involved in accident investigations after he bungled the job when I was rear-ended by a relative of the city treasurer last month. Rynearson let the guy leave the scene of the accident before the ambulance took my passengers to the hospital, after he admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel. Because the guy’s name is Kingsbury (same name appears on Rynearson’s paychecks), he got off with a citation for careless/negligent driving instead of reckless driving. According to my copy of Black’s Law Dictionary, getting behind the wheel when you either know or should know that you’re too tired to drive seems to fit the legal definition of recklessness.
