Marion youngster dies when run over in drive
A two year-old child died Sunday when he was run over in a Marion driveway.
The youngster, Carter-James Barron was reported directly behind a pickup truck in the private driveway in Middle Branch Township of Osceola County when a friend of the family backed over him.
Michigan State Police Troopers were called to the scene around 9:38 a.m. June 17. They reported that no adults were present with the child at the time.
The child’s father, Troopers and the Osceola EMS personnel on the scene attempted to administer first aid, but the child died at the scene.
Troopers investigating the accident said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
When the investigation is complete the incident will be turned over to the Osceola County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Barron was the second youngster killed by a vehicle in a private driveway on a Sunday morning in this area this spring.
April 29, a 13-month old, Kyle John Edward Counts of Royal Oak, who was visiting family in the area, died when he was hit by a truck in a driveway on Robin Street in Greenwood Township.
The youngster was also reported dead at the scene and police investigating said alcohol could have been a factor in that accident.
