Calvin W. Erhart
Calvin W. Erhart of Clare, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at North Woods Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, September 14, 2012 at Campbell – Stocking Family Funeral Home, Farwell. Elder Dean Beavers will officiate. A private burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 5 to 8:30 PM Thursday and from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday prior to the service.
Calvin was born on March 26, 1916 the son of Wilhem and Emma (Keebler) Erhart in Clare County, Michigan. He was a lifelong resident of Clare County. Calvin married Maribelle Weaver on July 3, 1947 in Clare County. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2003. He was a private truck driver who helped build Michigan’s roads, including one of the approaches for the Mackinac Bridge. Later, he worked for the Clare County Road Commission and was a serious and committed cattle farmer. Calvin was an active member and served as Elder in the Community of Christ Church in Farwell where he touched many lives through his service. He was also an active member of the Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda and husband Clay Maxwell of Beaverton, Carolyn and husband Graham Kelly of Old Mission, MI; eight grandchildren, Mindy Pratt, Ty Maxwell, Peter Maxwell, Paul Billman, Thomas Billman, Nena Magalski, Kenneth Billman, and Heath Kelly; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Jerry Billman of Farwell; and special friend, Edna Roe of Harrison. Besides his wife, Calvin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda Billman; and sister, Juanita Owens.
