Deputies run down 100 mph car

A Lake man and a Big Rapids woman were arrested Monday after a high-speed chase into Osceola County.
The driver of a 1990 Pontiac Firebird, Cody Wagner, 22, and a passenger, Miriah Labonte, 19, were stopped by a Clare County Shriff Deputy on US-10 near Lake Station Avenue.
After making contact with the two, the officer returned to his patrol car, and Wagner sped away.
The officer pursued the vehicle , which reached speeds over 100 miles per hour, the CCSD release said. The pursuit ended approximately one-half mile into Osceola County on US10 when Wagner attempted to make a U-turn in front of the officer and hit the patrol vehicle.
Both Wagner and Labonte were arrested and taken to the Clare County Jail. They were arraigned in 80th District Court on Tuesday.
Wagner is facing nine felony charges and two misdemeanors. He was charged with felony counts including:
five counts of no account checks;
one count of a non sufficient check of more than $100 but less than $500;
one count of unlawfully driving a vehicle away;
one count of habitual offender, second offense;
one count of third degree fleeing a police officer.
He also faces misdemeanor charges including one count of malicious destruction of a building less than $200 and one count of operating with license suspended, second degree.
Labonte was arraigned on two warrants for failure to appear at a Show Cause Hearing on original charges of Home Invasion.
Both Labonte and Wagner remain lodged at the Clare County Jail. Wagner’s preliminary hearing was set for October 8 at 2 p.m.
