The Farwell varsity volleyball team fell to host Gladwin on Wednesday night, with the Lady Flying G’s outscoring the Lady Eagles 25-14 25-15 and 25-21 in a Jack Pine Conference game. “We just never really got it going, we didn’t play up to our potential,” Farwell head coach Jacob Sullivan said. Sydney Hurley had six kills and 14 digs, Jenna Hamming had six kills, seven digs and three aces, Lauren Ringwalt had 10 digs and Emily Rawson had 14 assists. Farwell (6-11-1 overall, 1-3 JPC) plays at the McBain Invitational on Saturday and at the Houghton Lake quad on Monday.
Since the age of 3, Skyler Sunday has hunted with his dad (Bill Sunday). On opening morning of his first youth hunt, Skyler at the age of 10 took his first deer, an 8 point, on private land owned by his grandpa, Harold Sunday. With the support of his family, Uncle Shad Sunday (shown in the pitcher above) and his grandpa, Harold Sunday, Skyler will continue to carry on his dad’s legacy.

The Clare varsity cross country teams competed at the Delta College Invitational on Saturday, running a two mile races compared to the usual 3.1 mile run. Victoria Harper led the girl’s to a third place finish with a seventh place individual run (12:31), Melissa Benchley was 19th (13:19), Sadie Phillips was 23rd (13:22), Paige Gould came in 30th (13:30), Robyn Stanley was 35th(13:33), and Madison McPhee crossed at 38th(13:34) to round out medal winners for the girls.
