Students earn karate belts
This summer, four students in the S.P.A.R.K.S. program at Hillside Elementary School completed a six week karate class at the Central Michigan Karate Club. At the conclusion of the class, each student tested and earned their first belt.
S.P.A.R.K.S. (Students Participating in Academics and Recreation for Knowledge and Success) is an afterschool and summer-school program offered to students in Beaverton, Farwell, Gladwin, and Harrison school districts.
