Bring rail-trail through Clare

To the Editor,

It is reassuring to read that local business owners are concerned about bringing more potential customers to the City through their enthusiastic support of the development of the “Clare Gap”.

Clare County Parks and Recreation Commission has worked long and hard with various state and local groups to make the connecting link a reality.

CCP&RC has no financial stake in this process; but, was able to see that a formal and identifiable extension through the City would bring additional traffic to this city and to communities both east and west of Clare thus contributing to their financial well-being .

This community could be both a start and end point for users on the trail. Fortunately there is ample parking in the many convenient parking lots immediately adjacent to McEwan Street in the down town area. The Cities of Farwell and Coleman have been thrilled with the development of the trail through their communities!

Hopefully Clare will someday reach that same point of enthusiastic support at all levels.

Sincerely,

Gerald Schmiedicke,

Chair,
