As part of Principal Appreciation Week, February 10-16, Superintendent Doniel Pummell presented building principals – Primary Principal Mandy Bolen; Middle School Principal Steve Newkirk, High School Principal Lee Turner and Pioneer Principal Doug Filmore – with certificates of appreciation for all they do.
Pummell also reported on recent MEAP test results, saying, “We celebrate Reading [scores] across the board and will continue to focus on math.” She said the entire report will be shared at the March regular meeting.
The Superintendent also recognized the Primary School “and specifically the first grade team of Heidi Gallagher, Ashley Kleinhardt, Kellie Leroy, Monica Wieferich and Sandy Worth for planning and hosting the Daddy Daughter Dance.” She called it a “fantastic hit,” saying over 300 attended.
She also lauded Lori Schmidt and her Multicultural Club for a “wonderful International Night. ..” It is most impressive to see that the students ran the event. Lori is to be congratulated…”
Sports Booster Dennis Carmoney also got a little “pat on the back” Monday evening for his efforts to save the district some money. He worked with Al from Lloyd’s doors to replace the sliding door on the High School concession area for a fraction of the original cost quote.
During his report to the board, Carmoney reminded them that the spaghetti dinner will be held Friday in the High School Cafeteria.
Action items at the board meeting included:
*The approval of Board Policy updates,
*The approval of budget amendments,
*Approval of Sommer Christenson as a Primary School Paraprofessional, and
*Approval of David Kochan as Middle School Academic Interventionist.
