Clare Police Chief Brian Gregory is asking for witnesses to a March 3rd assault to call them.
The incident, an aggravated Assault is the early morning in Gateway Lanes’ parking lot, reportedly began with an argument between two Clare men. It “became physical,” said Gregory, and the 29-year old victim was “knocked unconscious” with a “serious head injury.”
The victim was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare and transferred to MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland where he underwent surgery. He was in the critical care unit in the Midland hospital on Monday.
The 27-year old suspect, Keenon Keyes, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault and arraigned in 80th District Court Monday on one count of Assault and one count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm. His bond was set at $100,000/10 percent cash surety. He posted bond and was released Monday.
The incident is still under investigation, Gregory said, and anyone who may have seen the incident is asked to contact Detective Greg Kolhoff at the Clare Police Department. The number is 989-386-2121.
