Hornet boys end season without a win
Harrison had its long season come to and end Monday night, falling to McBain 75-33 at the Evart class ‘C’ boys basketball district.
The Hornets trailed 32-7 after the first quarter and 53-18 at the half.
Individual stats were not available at press time.
On Friday, the Hornets fell to visiting Marion 52-42 in a non-conference game.
Marion led 10-7 after the first, 26-17 at the half and 32-26 entering the fourth.
Harrison closed the gap to three points in the fourth but were unable to comeback after strong free-throw shooting by the Eagles sealed the win.
Casey Rundell had 17 points and Cody Cooper had 11 to lead the Hornets.
On Thursday, Feb. 28 Harrison fell at Jack Pine Conference champion Beaverton, 53-22.
The Hornets and Beavers played to a 6-all tie after the first quarter though Beaverton took control in the second, outscoring Harrison 21-2 in the second to lead 27-8 at the half.
Play slowed in the third quarter, with Beaverton outscoring the Hornets 9-6 to lead 36-14 entering the fourth, where the Beavers cruised to the win with a 17-8 scoring edge.
Bret Coughlin and Cody Cooper both had six points for Harrison, Bryce Osborn had five, Matt Haskell and Tod Steir both had two and Austin Casey scored one point.
Harrison finishes the season 0-21 overall and 0-14 in the JPC.
