Two sought for questioning in gunshop robbery

Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department investigators are looking for a man and woman, “persons of interest” in connection with the Monday robbery of “Guns and Stuff” a small business at 895 Chappel Dam Road in Gladwin County’s Sage Township.
According to a release from the GCSD, officers received a call from a woman at the gun shop around 2 p.m. Monday saying it had just been robbed.
The shop is located just outside the city in in a shed next to the owner’s home. Reportedly a masked suspect hit Robinette during the robbery.
Deputies arriving at the scene found the suspect had fled and the gun shop owner, Richard Robinette, lying on the floor of the shop with head injuries. . Officers believe the suspect may have left in, or met with a vehicle.
Robinette was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Gladwin and from there transferred to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment.
Assisted by the Department of Natural Resources, Michigan State Police Troopers, Gladwin City Police and Clare County Sheriff’s Department K-9 teams, Deputies attempted to track the suspect, but could not locate him.
They are now seeking two “persons of interest” for questioning, Rosalinda Martinez and Charles Rowan, in connection with the robbery.
An inventory of the store was taken by officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to determine what was taken. The ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assault or for the recovery of firearms stolen. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) will match any reward paid, according to a release from Special Agent Donald Dawkins of the ATF.
“The theft of firearms from licensed gun dealers is a top priority for ATF,” said Gilbert Salinas, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Detroit Field Division. “Most importantly we need to identify the individual(s) that would violently attack and rob a federal firearms licensee. Our experience shows us that these guns quickly become used in violent crimes. We also know that tips from the public have resulted in the recovery of stolen firearms.”
Gladwin County Sheriff Michael Shea said, “This crime is especially heinous since the owner of the gun store was savagely attacked and is in critical condition. The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department is asking that if anyone has information that would lead to identifying those responsible to come forward. This is a crime we take very seriously and we will pursue those responsible.

News update: As of press time Thursday, three people had been arrested in connection with the robbery. Names had not yet been released, pending arraignment.
