World premier music featured at Gateway Band concert
Clare’s Irish Festival week will include the 9th Annual Gateway Community Band Irish Concert titled “A Dance Tour of Ireland”. On Thursday, March 14 beginning at 7:30 pm in the Clare High School Gym, this 60 piece volunteer band will provide an evening of upbeat music and traditional Irish tunes. Among the music Conductor Kenneth Feneley has included in his program are “Danny Boy”, the Irish Washerwoman and the latest Lloyd Conley composition “Barney Bralligan”. Especially dedicated to the Gateway Band, conductor Feneley and the “very Irish City of Clare, Mchigan, Mr. Conley has chosen this concert to premier this new music. “Barney Bralligan is the latest of over 600 published works by this 88 year old former Clare School Band director. Many folks in the Clare area as well as a number of Gateway Band musicians are former students of his.
As always, there is no charge to attend this concert although donations towards the band are accepted. Also there will be tickets on sale for a drawing to be held during the program.
