Larry O. Blain
April 3, 2013 following a courageous battle with illness. A funeral service in celebration of his full life was held on Tuesday, April 9 at 11AM at the Campbell-Stocking Family Funeral Home in Farwell, with a luncheon following at the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Jim Young offi ciated. Friends visited on Monday, April 8th from 4-8PM and burial will follow cremation in the Lincoln Twp Cemetery at a time to be determined.
Larry was born on August 13, 1940, the son of Virgil and Laura Jane (Kress) Blain in Pontiac, MI. After graduating from High School, Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963. He served on fl ight readiness crews servicing F100 Fighter Jet aircraft around the world, and especially during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he was employed at General Motors Parts Division in Pontiac where he worked as a parts supervisor until retirement.
Throughout his life Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying time with family and friends including the trip of a lifetime to Alaska. He also loved woodworking. Larry leaves behind his children; Sherrie Strom and husband Peter of Big Rapids, Karen Mittlestat and husband Mark of Brown City, Stewart Blain of Lapeer, Liberty Blain and husband Claus Johnson of Cheyenne WY, five grandchildren; Ashley and Paul Smith, Jacob and Julie Mittlestat, Aaron Blain, two brothers Roger Blain of Lake, John Blain and wife Vicki of Lake, and many relatives and friends.
