Multi-cultural club hosts International Night
The Multi – cultural Club of Clare High School hosted the second annual International Night at the high school. The club members diligently worked to make this night a bigger success than last year’s. With the support of the exchange students and family, club members and family, and the community, they did just that. There were approximately 175 people in attendance. Students made and sold tickets, planned and organized the entertainment, and even acted as hosts.
The night started off with a buffet of diverse foods, followed by cultural entertainment. During the dinner and performances, Kyleah Klenke and Romana Chvalova offered face painting for all of the guests. The first performance was Hannelore Dysinger with a presentation on Germany, followed by Holly Tran and her guitar accompanist Brendan Gregory singing “Hello Vietnam.” Next, The Newman School of Dance performed and taught a lesson; and, Heidi Rocha, a Community Coordinator for PAX Academic Exchange, presented on hosting and becoming an exchange student. The performances ended with Mallory McDowell singing a Spanish song titled “Tù.” To end the night, Melanie Strawn directed a Zumba fitness routine in the commons, and the children broke piñatas.
Much appreciation is extended to our donors: J.T. Baker’s, Clare High School, Ponderosa, Witbeck’s, Clare Student Vending, Valu Land, and the CTE Culinary Arts Program.
The money raised will go towards the students’ 2014 trip. We hope to see you all at our International Night next year.
