Anna’s 50 is nifty!- Bash raises funds for charities
By Genine Hopkins
On Saturday, April 27, 2013, more than 50 people attended Anna Romanov’s “Fifty is Nifty” Birthday Bash at the Harrison Moose Family Center, to celebrate her 50th birthday which fell on April 22. Also celebrating birthdays in sequence were Paul Romanov – April 21st – and Becky Woodruff – April 23 – Anna’s brother and sister.
A large number of family members traveled from the Detroit area, but also in attendance were DHS Community Resources Coordinator Gretchen Wilbur, who helped initiate the Community Nutrition Network mobile food distribution in Clare County, Tom Pirnstill, Clare County Transit Corporation Director, and Camara Sigworth, owner of Camaralynn Photography in Harrison, who helped commemorate the event through her camera lens. Guest DJ for the event was 2012 Farwell High School graduate Skye Hopkins, who is currently attending MMCC.
Bringing the cake – which was truly delectable – was Tammy Teal – owner of JT Bakers in Clare. Attendees danced the afternoon away to an array of music, everything from Disco to Country.
In lieu of presents, Anna had asked that contributions be made to local charities. A total of $560 was provided to the Clare County Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, and the Community Nutrition Network. Some guests additionally brought pantry food items for the local food bank and animal food for the shelter.
These worthy causes are always in need of volunteers and contributions. Anna hopes to encourage local support of these wonderful agencies.
