Chaffee caught after robbing home twice

A Mt. Pleasant man who broke into the same home twice, has been charged with home invasion and theft and is being held in the Isabella County Jail on $60,000 bond.
Kyle James Chaffee, 23, of Mt. Pleasant, was caught by police after he was discovered in the middle of a Lincoln Township break-in May 3 when the homeowner heard “someone in their house.”
According to a release from the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department, Chaffee fled into nearby woods. He was apprehended about a half-mile away with a stole item from the home.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for Chaffee’s home and discovered numerous stolen item from a prior break-in at the same address, including a deer rifle.
He was arraigned in Isabella County Trial Court on one count of home invasion first degree, one count of hoe invasion second degree, one count of weapons/firearms larceny, two counts of felony firearms and one count of firearms receive and conceal.
The ICSD was assisted by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police and the Michigan State Police Post.
