Local women attend GFWC convention
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Michigan (GFWC Michigan) convention celebrated their 118th year at convention in Grand Rapids April 19-21.
The local GFWC Northeastern clubs of Clare, Harrison, Mt. Pleasant, Tawas City and Rogers City contributed to the overall success of the 2012 year.
Thousands of dollars and hours were spent helping local efforts such as: schools, baby pantries, domestic violence prevention, libraries and local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity.
Statewide programs include supporting; residential care for neglected children through Guiding Harbor in Belleville, Handicapped children’s health camp at Bay Cliff in Big Bay, and International Health through Operation Smile.
The GFWC International Motto “Living the volunteer spirit” is testament to the hard work and generosity of GFWC women everywhere. More information about this group can be found at ww.gfwcmi.org.
