Man extradited from California, charged for CSC on Harrison boy
Paul Ignacio Johnson was arrested in California and extradited to Michigan to face charges stemming from a sexual assault of a four year old boy in Harrison.
The investigation began in July, 2012 when agents from the United States Department of Homeland Security notified detectives at the Michigan State Police
Mt. Pleasant Post about the possibility Johnson was molesting a 4 year old boy in Harrison.
During the investigation it was learned Johnson had fled the state of Michigan. Detectives located him in California. Through a joint investigation with the Michigan State Police, the United States Department of Homeland Security, and the Escondido, California Police Department, Johnson was located in the city of Escondido, CA.
In February 2013, detectives from Escondido Police and agents from Homeland Security made contact with Johnson and located child sexually abusive images on his computer. Johnson was arrested in California on charges of Possession of Child Abusive Materials. He was convicted in California on charges stemming from that arrest.
March 26, 2013 the 80th District Court of Clare County issued an arrest warrant for Johnson, charging one count of CSC 1st Degree and one count of CSC 2nd Degree.
Johnson was extradited to Michigan and arrived in the Clare County Jail on May 15, 2013.
On May 16th 2013, Paul Ignacio Johnson was arraigned in the 80th District Court of Clare County on charges of CSC 1st Degree and CSC 2nd Degree.
