Readers win Red Wing tickets
Heidi Gallagher, a first grade teacher at Clare Primary school, and her student teacher, Megan Brennan, signed their students up for the Red Wings Reading Program in October of 2012. The program asked students to read three books and mail their forms into the Detroit Red Wings. Due to the NHL lockout, the students were unable to receive their reading packets until January of 2013. The reading packet included a bookmark, tattoo, and other exciting information about the Red Wings Reading club and their kids club. When the students signed up for the program, they were automatically entered into a drawing to win tickets to a Detroit Red Wings Game. In February, Bradley White won tickets to a game and received an autographed photo of Justin Abdelkader and a puck. He also had his name appear on the Jumbotron at the game. Two months Later, Lily Ward was able to have the same experience. She also won tickets to a game! Both students had a blast! It was unusual enough that one student from Gallagher’s class won, but two is just down right lucky!
