Darleen “Dar” A. Cradit
Darleen “Dar” A. Cradit, age 68 of Clare, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Woodland Hospice House following a courageous five year battle with Ovarian Cancer. Dar was born the daughter of Howard and Helen (Baike) Hein on March 21, 1945 in Detroit. She was united in marriage to Thomas Cradit on July 11, 1983.
Darleen had moved to the Clare area with her family when she was 14 years old. She had worked as a Computer Operator Programmer at Central Michigan University for 33 years. Dar was active at the St. John Lutheran Church in Clare; she had taught Sunday School for many years and was involved with the Ladies Aid. She was a multi task crafter that was forever busy crafting; besides crafting Dar enjoyed baking. While her son Nathan was in school Dar spent many years volunteering for various tasks at the Clare Public School. Those that knew Dar will remember her warm smile and caring attitude; it can be said of her that she never met a stranger.
Dar is survived by her husband Tom of Clare; her son Nathan Cradit of East Lansing; her step son Gary Thomas (Kerry) Cradit of Trenton; a sister Sue (Jim) Allen of Highland; grandchildren Alexandra and Mikaela; nephews Jeff (Jenelle) Allen of Fenton, and Chuck (Mashon) Allen of Saline, and many great nephews and great nieces. Dar was predeceased by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Clare with Pastor Paul C. Fetzer officiating. Friends are invited to gather with the family at the church beginning at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow In the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice House, 2597 S. Meridian Road, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan 48858. Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
