“Sleddin’ at the Jack” Comes to Farwell
By Steve Landon
Just because its summer doesn’t mean it’s not snowmobile season, in fact summertime is the best time to get out and meet fellow enthusiasts, look at sleds from a bygone era, find much needed parts or pick up a sled for the coming winter. On Saturday July 27th snowmobile collectors, vendors, swappers and fans of the sport will head to the Second Annual “Sleddin’ at the Jack” Vintage Snowmobile Swap & Show held at the Farwell Flea Market & Thrift Store located at 770 E. Main.
Started by area Sno-Jet collector Bernie Blain of Lake, Mich., with assistance from local businessman and show host John Tait in 2012, “Sleddin’ at the Jack” is well on the way to becoming one of the top summer vintage snowmobile shows and swaps in Mid Michigan thanks in part to its central location between US 27 & US 10 expressways . By being held on Saturday – the biggest day of the Lumberjack Festival attendance should once again be excellent.
Sno-Jet Snowmobiles will be the 2013 feature sled, however, all makes and models are welcome. There will be a Special Tribute to Patty Adema Senneker and her late husband Jim Adema. The Adema›s were a major force in Sno-Jet Racing back in the 1970’s. Jim was inducted into The Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame and the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in 1988.
Admission is Free to the Public • Swap Fee $5.00 plus a non-perishable food item • Free admission for show sleds. For More Information contact Bernie Blain 517-588-9157. Gates Open to public at 9:00 a.m., however, swappers and those with sleds to display are encouraged arrive earlier.
Have a family member not into sleds? Don’t worry they can head a short distance down the road to the 13th Annual Farwell Lumberjack Festival for a craft show/sale, chainsaw carving, Lumberjack show, Car show and more.
