Naomi R. Spicer
NAOMI R. SPICER, age 86, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 4th, 2013. She moved to Socorro, New Mexico in 2000 where she lived near her daughter and husband. She was preceded in death by husbands Kenneth Roller and Edward Spicer and by brothers Kenneth and Max Allen.
She is survived by daughters Jane Apps and husband Gilbert of Socorro, New Mexico and Jill Robinson and husband James of Loudenville, Ohio. Numerous grand children also will remember her with love: Janel (Baird) Ramsey and Damon Apps, Kenneth (Susie) Walters, James Paul (Opal) Robinson, Lacy Jo (Luke) Pollock. Great-grandchildren Jared and Tyler Walters, Chance Robinson, Thaddeus, Judson, Preston and Seth Pollock, and Elliott Dean Apps. She is also survived by sisters Lelah May Dwyer (Michael), Laurel Hildebrandt (Marion), and brother Russel Allen (Phyllis). Many nieces and nephews, friends and family will also miss her.
Born on a farm in rural Michigan, during WWII she was a “Rosie the Riverter”, installing rivets in wings for B-24 bombers. She married, had two children, was a loving wife and mother. She was a Laboratory Technician for Gladwin Hospital for a number of years.
While in Socorro, she faithfully attended First Presbyterian Church of Socorro. There was a memorial held there for her.
There will be a graveside remembrance at the Arthur Township Cemetery, Clare County on August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend, please bring your own lawn chairs.
