Church celebrates 50th anniversary
Rev. Charles Smith held the first service in the Clare Middle School band room on December 15, 1963. The present church, built in 1965, is known as the “Church on the hill!” At the top of the steeple, a cross was placed. For half a century people have gathered under that cross to hear the Word of God. Here we “Lift high the Cross, the love of Christ proclaim, ‘til all the world adore His sacred name!” (Hymn 311, LW).
Celebrating under the theme “Glorify the Prince of Peace – Celebrate Our Jubilee” a special anniversary service will be held at 1:30 p.m. followed by a cake reception. Former Pastor Rev. Paul Wargo will be the guest preacher along with special music.
