Divers fail to find Taylor’s body – missing since 2007
By Pat Maurer
Taylor disappeared in 2007, and was reported missing by his mother in 2009. Since he worked for carnivals, it wasn’t uncommon for him to be gone for long periods of time.
September 5th, the Clare County Sheriff’s Department thought his body might have been found. They received a tip which prompted a search of pond in Redding Township. Despite a search by a Michigan State Police cadaver dog and by Dive Team members of the Sheriff’s Department that day, no trace was found.
Sheriff John Wilson said this was the first tip received on Taylor’s disappearance. He said the pond has a clay bottom which made the search “difficult.” Despite the extensive search, divers found no indication that Taylor’s body was in the pond.]
Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski said, “At this time the investigation will continue until Timothy can be located. Anyone with any information pertaining to Mr. Taylor or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Clare County Sheriff Department Detective Division at 989-539-7166.”
“I know his body wasn’t in that pond,” said Taylor’s ex-wife Cathy. She said he called her in late 2011 or early 2012 to ask her to check on his mother. “I’ve known that he was alive since about 2010.” She added that she believes he had been in contact with his mother.
She continued, “Tim never indicated to me why he took off without a word to anyone. His only comment was that he just needed to ‘lay low’ for a while. He sounded just fine on the phone and actually sounded quite happy. He said he had steady work and was doing really well.”
She said that although he had been in trouble on and off for most of his life, but for minor things. He is “actually a very good person deep down.”
She said she had reported the information to the Sheriff’s Department.
