Farwell golf team has record setting week

The Farwell girls’ golf team competed in three meets last week, and set or tied two school records in the process.
On Thursday, Aug. 29 the Eagles competed at the Fortress in Frankenmuth in the Kelly Girls Invitational.
Bria Colosky shot a 79 to place 11th and Sammie Baldwin hit an 84 to come in 19th. Colosky and Baldwin were the only two members of the team that made the trip.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28 the Eagles competed at Katke in Big Rapids at the Cardinal Invitational, where the team broke the school record with a team score of 390 and also placed third as a team. The previous record was 392, set in 2008.
Colosky shot an 80 and came in second, Baldwin hit an 84 and placed third, Kasey Staley had a 101 and Haley Lewis shot a 125.
“This was a great two day test for our girls,” Farwell head coach TJ Staley said. “I could not be more pleased. At state last year Bria shot 176 over two days, compared to 159 Wednesday and Thursday. Baldwin shot 216 at state and 168 last week. Needless to say there is a lot more pressure when competing for a state championship but the difficulty of the courses are comparable. These girls are prepared to do great things.”
On Monday, Aug. 26 the team competed at the Grayling Country Club for the Grayling Invitational. The Eagles hit 406 as a team coming in fifth place, and had Colosky shot a 74, tying Emily Rohdy for the school record. Colosky’s round also took first place honors at the meet, Baldwin hit an 83 to come in fourth, Staley had a 101 and Lewis had a 148.
The Eagles competed at Currie Golf Course for the Dow Frank Altimore Invitational on Thursday and compete at Alma on Sept. 16.
