Six-year-old injured in Isabella truck accident
Isabella County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were called to Drew Road, about 1/4 miles west of West County Line Road in Isabella County’s Sherman Township around 5 p.m. September 25.
They found that a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup driven westbound on West Drew Road by Ryan Thomas Byberg had run off the roadway, went through a ditch and hit some trees.
Byberg received minor injuries and refused treatment, Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski reported.
His passenger, Aubrey Ana Wilson, 6, of Remus, was airlifted from the scene to Spectrum Health Systems in Grand Rapids by Aero Med with possible head injuries.
Both Bybers and Wilson were wearing seat belts, but the youngster was not properly restrained in a belt positioning booster seat, Mioduszewski reported.
Byberg was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and for Child Endangerment. He is lodged in the Isabella County Jail on a $10,000/10 percent cash surety bond.
An update Thursday morning said Aubrey Wilson’s injuries included a concussion, minor lacerations, abrasions and bruising.
She was expected to be released from the hospital Thursday.
