Farwell spikers top Harrison
By Ben Murphy
Farwell evened its Jack Pine Conference record with a win in Harrison on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Eagles won in four sets 25-14, 25-16, 24-26 and 25-11.
“The girls played with excellent intensity,” Farwell head coach Jacob Sullivan aid. “Caron White and Lauren Ringwalt showed their senior leadership on the court. Caron hit the ball extremely well and Lauren kept setting to her whenever she could and we saw points go on the board because of it.”
White finished with 18 kills, two digs, two aces and one block, Kenra Robison had five kills and one dig, Kate Saupe had eight aces, three kills, five digs and one assist. Saupe was also 30-of-32 serving, good for 25 points.
The team as a whole served successfully 92-of-99 times.
“Our serving was great and that allowed us to receive lots of free balls and we could run our offense and convert them into points,” Sullivan said. “We had some trouble closing out matches this year and that showed in the third set but we recovered from it in set four to take care of the match. The communication on the court was great and the girls proved to themselves how well they can play when they keep their focus.”
Farwell (8-8-1 overall, 2-2 JPC) hosted a quad against Roscommon, Gladwin and Meridian on Wednesday and hosts its own invitational on Saturday. The Eagles also play on Wednesday in Clare.
