Iva Jean Lipke
Iva Jean was born in Flint, Michigan to Alton and Esther (Schramm) Evans on March 24, 1924. She went to high school at Bay City Central and graduated in 1942. A Bay City resident for most of her life, she was a homemaker and worked with her husband, Warren, as a bookkeeper for J & L Electric Company. She also worked seasonally for Simmons Jewelers. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years and enjoyed singing as a soloist and playing in the hand bell choir. After moving to Clare in 2010, she joined the Clare Congregational United Church of Christ. Throughout her life she was involved in the Good Timers and Baytown Dance Clubs, Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Bay City Garden Club. An avid golfer, she was the first woman to score a hole-in-one at Maple Leaf Golf Course in Linwood, July 9, 1978. Iva Jean enjoyed knitting, quilting, playing cards, musicals, bingo and socializing with her dear friends at Clare Castle. She enjoyed watching sports, was a Spartan football fan and cheered for any team playing against the Tigers.
Iva Jean is preceded in death by Warren, her husband of 66 years, her mother and father, step-fathers Emrys Bishop and Reinhold Koenig, and numerous aunts, uncles and cherished friends.
Iva Jean is survived by her loving partner Warren Willett and her children Meredith (Robert) List of Clare and Richard (Joan) Lipke of Champlin, Minnesota. Grandchildren Sarah (Tom) Tracy of Morrison, Colorado, Daniel (Melissa) List of Kalamazoo, Richard Lipke, Jr., of Colorado City, Colorado and Deborah (Matthew) Kirkland of Colorado City, Colorado. Her Great-Grandchildren are Dillon and Mckade Tracy, Avery List, and Eva, Christina, David and Jackson Kirkland.
Memorial donations may be made to Clare Congregational United Church of Christ Roofing Fund.
Funeral services will be held at Clare Congregational United Church of Christ, 110 W. 5th St., on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dr. Adam Webber officiating. Private interment will follow at a future date. Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
