Lake City man dies in M-115 crash
On Sunday October 6th 2013 at approximately 1350 hrs, Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle crash with a fatality on M115 near 22 mile road. A SUV/crossover traveling southbound hauling a boat collided with a northbound pickup.
Improper towing of the large boat by the southbound SUV and wet road conditions made it to where the boat traveled into the northbound lanes striking the passing northbound pickup. The northbound vehicle then left the roadway and traveled into the ditch. The crash closed parts of M-115 for approximately 4 hours.
Multiple injuries were sustained by the occupants of the pickup truck. The victim, driver of the pickup truck, was identified as Max Franklin a 73 year old male from Lake City. Osceola Deputies were assisted at the scene by Marion Fire and Rescue, Tustin Fire and Rescue, Osceola EMS, Michigan State Police and the Evart Police Department.
