Live grenade found in Sheridan Township

A live grenade found inside a thermos in a camper October 10 was disposed of safely, according to information from Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski.
Deputies got the call around noon that the grenade had been found in the camper on residential property in the area of Maple and Tobacco Roads in Sheridan Township. Responding officers discovered that the grenade had been left in the thermos as a souvenir by a former family member several years earlier.
The grenade was disposed of by the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad. There were no injuries.
Deputies also had the assistance of the Michigan State Police from the Mt. Pleasant Post, the Clare Fire Department and Mobile Medical Ambulance Service.
