Meridian sweeps away Hornets

If you can’t dig the other team’s hits chances are you aren’t going to beat good volleyball teams. Monday night host Harrison serve-received at 42 percent, leading to a 25-10, 25-19 and 25-12 Jack Pine Conference loss.
“We are still having problems with our receiving,” Harrison head coach Larry Flemming said. “We were only at 42 percent, that’s just about where we have been so far this season. We even had problems with our serving which has been one of our stronger parts of the game.”
Katelyn Sherrick, Haley Sulla and Dannielle Cullen all had two aces apiece with Alexis LaChaa adding the seventh one.
“Katelyn added the jump serve to her game and it is effective, just not enough to get the win,” Flemming said.
Sulla added five kills, three digs and served at 83 percent.
Flemming also pointed out that he has called up freshman Ashleigh Woolston from junior varsity and Toni Fletcher will return to the team after recovering from an injury.
“I’m not sure what difference these two can make to the team this late in the season but we will find out,” Flemming said.
Harrison (0-8 JPC) played at Roscommon on Wednesday and host Gladwin on Monday.
