Coleman Road to be upgraded
Coleman Road will see upgrades thanks to special road funding made possible by the Michigan Legislature, state Rep. Kevin Cotter announced today.
Coleman Road from the West County line to Woodruff Road will see upgrades in the coming year.
“These road improvements are great news for residents of Isabella County. Road improvements mean safer roads and increased commerce which is a positive for all residents,” said Cotter, R-Mount Pleasant. “Fixing Michigan’s roads is not an easy process but these projects are a great start.”
As part of the fiscal year 2014 state budget, the Legislature created the special fund using $230 million in existing state revenue. One-half of the funds were available for appropriation on Oct. 1, and the other half could be appropriated for roads next year.
“These projects are a great step forward in Michigan’s road recovery,” Cotter said. “There is no question more still needs to be done, but this is a great step to the process that uses existing funds and will not cost Isabella County taxpayers a cent.”
This funding is in addition to $121.3 million from the state General Fund used to fully match available federal transportation funds.
