Two people were seriously injured last Sunday afternoon in an accident on eastbound U.S. 10 near M-115 in Surrey Township.
The Toyota 4 Runner, driven by Georgios Skiniotis, 39, of Ann Arbor “actually went over the guardrail and landed on its top on M-115,” according to a release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Department. The accident was reported at 2:30 p.m.
Skiniotis and a passenger, Andrea Otte, 38, also of Ann Arbor, sustained serious, but not critical, injuries in the crash, but their four year old son “miraculously” survived the crash with only minor injuries, deputies said.
Both adults were wearing their seatbelts and the child was properly restrained in a child seat, the release said.
Skiniotis, Otte and the youngster were taken to MidMichigan Medical Center Clare – Emergency by Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Services. Michigan State Police troopers assisted at the scene.
The accident, which was caused by driving too fast for slippery road conditions, is under investigation.
