Man assaulted at party, dumped in Grand Rapids
At approximately noon on July 31 in the city of Grand Rapids, a 32-year-old Middle Eastern man from Lansing was found in an alley near Turner Ave and Myrtle St. The victim had his ankles, wrists, shoulders and mouth bound with duct tape. Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect removing the victim from the trunk of a maroon Chevy Impala.
The victim, Farhang Silevany, told officers he attended a party at an unknown address on Isabella Rd. In Mt. Pleasant, MI. Silevany reported he had been assaulted and held down with a knife at his throat by a Native American male while a female suspect bound him with duct tape.
The suspects took the victims phone, wallet, and ID then put him in to the truck of their vehicle. After several hours in the trunk, the victim was dumped off in Grand Rapids.
Mt. Pleasant Troopers conducted an investigation which identified the location of the incident and identified the suspects and several witnesses. Troopers also executed a search warrant at 707 S. Isabella Rd. resulting in the recovery of the victim’s property and other evidence of the crime. A 22-year-old Saginaw man found at the residence was also arrested on an outstanding felony warrant on unrelated charges.
A 26-year-old female from Mt. Pleasant was arrested for her involvement in this incident. She is currently charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon. She faces up to 15 years in prison.
A 27-year-old member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, was located and arrested without incident at a motel in Alma, MI where he was staying with a girlfriend. He is charged with armed-robbery, unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon. He faces up to life in prison.
The Chevy Impala was recovered at the motel and is being held as evidence by MSP-Mt. Pleasant.
Due to the cooperation between state, local and federal agencies, the suspects in this matter were taken into custody with in 48 hours of the initial report made to Grand Rapids Police Department.
The victim is recovering from his physical injuries in this matter.
