Break-ins plague Coleman businesses
Tuesday night Coleman’s City Council received their official audit report. The Auditor stated, “The audit went very well”. The only issues raised by the Auditor were the same issues raised in every small town municipality.
The Council voted to accept the audit as presented.
The Chief of Police reported 170 calls for service in the last month including fraud, theft and breaking and entering. Fifty-two verbal warnings were issued and 19 citations were given in the last month. Leads are being pursued concerning three to four businesses that were victims of breaking and enterings in Coleman.
Lapham and Associates will be hired by the City of Coleman to create an engineering report. The report will involve Washington Street from 6th to 1st and 4th Street from Rails-to-Trails to Adams. The cost for this engineering project will be about $26,000 and will be billed to the Major Streets Fund. The project will include sewers, street, and water flow studies.
Three apartments have been rented this month at the Pere Marquette Senior Estates and 2-3 more rentals are pending.
The Coleman Council voted to allot 50% of the antenna rental revenue from the water tower to a distinct account to be used for water tower repairs and maintenance. The remaining rental revenue will continue to fund the general water account.

JoMac Rydman has been reappointed to the planning commission for another term.
The next meeting of the Coleman City Council will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday November 24.
