We want to fulfill your Christmas Wish

We want to fulfill your Christmas Wish

I have to admit my eyes started to water, as I began to read the first mailed responses to our Christmas Wish program. It’s apparent with the volume of mail we have received thus far that there are a lot of people in Clare County that need help this holiday season.

I would like to share a couple of letters we received:

An 8-year-old child from Farwell wrote- I have cerebral palsy. My mom and grandma had to teach me how to walk. All my doctors at the Shriner’s Hospital told them that I would never walk. My mom and grandma started to put me in warm water and worked on my muscles. The warm water helped to relax my muscles and they would work with my legs and arms and the doctors were shocked when I was starting to crawl.

Then I started to talk and walk. My mom and grandma have kept me active so I can stay walking. But now we don’t know what is going to happen because the doctors say my muscles are getting tight. They told my mom she must get a spa tub to keep my muscles loose.

My wish is that I would get a spa tub with jets so that my mom and grandma would not have to work so hard to keep me out of a wheelchair. We have to live with grandma and grandpa because my mom can’t work because she has to take care of me. PLEASE, I don’t want to be in a wheelchair again.

A second letter is equally a tear jerker:

A person from Clare writes- We left our home in Minnesota because my sister is dying of cancer and my husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and is on a oxygen machine. He wanted to be home in Michigan to die.

My wish is that we could have a nice Christmas dinner at a restaurant with our son and daughter-in-law and grandson. Our anniversary is in January and we will have been married for 51 years.

It is abundantly clear that there are many folks in Clare County that are hurting. We’ve gotten dozens of letters from people who have lost jobs and essentially have no money for Christmas gifts. If this sounds like your situation, please write us. We want to help as many people as we can have a happy Christmas.

You can write- The Christmas Wish Program, c/o Clare County Review, 2141 E. Ludington, Clare, Mi. 48617. Deadline to get your Christmas request to us is November 27.

KUDOS: Upon reading our announcement about The Christmas Wish Program in last week’s edition Larry and Barbara Kaczor felt compelled to purchase a turkey. They brought the frozen bird to our office last Tuesday so that we in turn could give it to a family that might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving dinner. On behalf of the family that received the turkey, I would like to express my appreciation to the Kaczors.
