YATS NAMED CLARE DAR GOOD CITIZEN
The faculty of Clare High School announces Daniel Yats as the 2009
DAR Good Citizen. The DAR Good Citizen Award is given to a student who exemplifies
the qualities of good citizenship as indicated by dependability, service, leadership, and
patriotism. Daniel demonstrates all of these characteristics in his family, community
and school lives.
Daniel has been a very active member of the Clare High School student body the past
four years. He is currently a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, as
well as a mentor in the Pioneer Crew Program. He has also participated in football, track
and field and basketball. His track coach also recognized Dan’s outstanding character by
awarding him the Coach’s Award. He is also a member of the Michigan High School
Athletic Association Student Advisory Council as well as the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes.
In his spare time, Daniel enjoys both playing and listening to music. He has received top
ratings in solo, duet and quartet performances the past three years at Solo and Ensemble.
This has resulted in his being eligible for state competitions. Daniel’s love of music is
also reflected in his membership in the Gateway Community Band in Clare.
After high school Daniel plans on attending college to study kinesiology. His ultimate
goal is to be an athletic trainer for a university or professional franchise. Daniel is the son
of Kirk and Dee Yats of Farwell.
