The Village of Farwell was greeted by volunteers from Love Inc of Farwell during Monday nights Village Council meeting.

Love In the Name of Christ (Love Inc) brings Christian churches together, across denominational lines, to help the poor by meeting immediate needs such as food and clothing, to longer-term responses through relational ministries such as life skills training and transitional housing.

Love Inc of Clare County has just moved into a building near downtown Farwell.  Local volunteers approached the Farwell Village Council about the water and sewer bill pertaining to their building. The volunteers ask that the Village donate the cost of the water and sewer bill due to their being a charitable organization.

The building that Love Inc occupies was at one time the Adult Education Building and the H&R Block building.  The rental of the building is being donated to Love Inc.

After some discussion the Village Council decided to aid Love Inc by donating six months of their water and sewer bill, up to $250, to show support to the community based organization.

Love Inc of Clare County was asked to return to a Village meeting after six months to update the council members of their progress within the local community.

Also during Farwell’s Council meeting Tom Bihlmeyer of Wade Trim updated the council on the Water and Superior Projects.  Both projects have completed surveys.

Wade Trim was paid $5,526.22 for the Superior Street Improvement projects and $16,478.99 for the Water System Improvement projects.

Rick Miller informed the council that a traffic study was completed on Maple Grove Road.  The study found that the average speed of vehicles is 25-35 mph, the quantity of traffic is average for the area, and that the road is as good as any county road in the area. Therefore no road work will be done on Maple Grove Road until a greater need exists.

The Village paid bills in the sum of $ 18,183.14 and set two budget workshop dates for the month of January.
