Harrison man dies in M-61 crash

On December 9, at 4:21 pm, Clare County Central Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a traffic crash that occurred on M61, about 1 mile west of Dodge Lake Rd, in Hamilton Township.

 

Deputies found  two vehicles had collided in the west bound lane on M61. A 2004 Pontiac Aztec was traveling west. A 2007 Ford Focus was traveling east.

 

Witnesses to the crash stated that the Ford Focus had got off on to some slush on the side of the road and then crossed it’s lane and into the path of the Pontiac Aztec.

 

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 63-year-old male from Harrison (Donald E. Nailor) was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Pontiac Aztec, a 43-year-old female from Harrison (Kimberly D. Martin) was taken to the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center- Clare and later transferred to Convent/Cooper in Saginaw.

 

The deceased driver of the Ford Focus was not wearing a seatbelt. M61 was closed for 3 hours for investigating and clean up. Clare County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison Fire Department, United Ambulance Service, Clare County Road Commission, Clare County Sheriff Reserves and Clare County Sheriff Victim Advocate team were agencies assisting in this fatal traffic crash.
