Loyd W. Irwin

loyd W. Irwin, age 89, lifelong resident of Farwell, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Clare.  Floyd was born the son of Aaron and Hazel (Price) Irwin on September 16, 1920 in Farwell.  He was united in marriage to Ella June Shilling on February 8, 1940, and she predeceased him on August 5, 1991.  Floyd has worked at a CCC camp near Newberry.  He had worked at Holley Carburetor in Clare as a machine operator for 16 years, and also as a Stone Mason for his entire life.  Floyd enjoyed making birdhouses out of stone, as well as hunting, fishing, and camping.  

Floyd is survived by his sons Gail (Carolyn) of Mt. Morris, Lloyd (Roberta) of Arcadia, Florida, Kenneth (Gloria) of Edgewater, Florida, and Loren (Diana) of Clare; his daughter Nina Wilkerson of Farwell; 21 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.  Floyd was predeceased by his parents, 9 siblings, his son-in-law Harold, and his son Donald.

Services will take place on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Halstead officiating.  Burial will be in the Surrey Twp. Cemetery in Farwell.  Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Church of God.  If you are unable to attend Floyd’s services please leave his family an online condolence at www.stephenson-wyman.com
