News from Your Sheriff
During the month of November your Deputies handle 2,209 calls for service. During the firearm deer season we had no reports of lost hunters or any hunting accidents. At the end of November there were a total of 174 inmates incarcerated. Of that number 89 were local inmates, 55 were renters from SST, 17 were Federal Prisoners, and 13 were holds for other jurisdictions.
Â
I seem to get asked several times how many car deer accident does the Sheriff Department handle. The below numbers are totals for the entire county, which include ones handled by the Michigan State Police. Each number represents the two months of October and November. As you will see there is not that big of a difference between the years. I don’t believe that there are anymore deer in the County; but that they may be roaming more to find the food since feeding is not allowed.Â

I would like to congratulate the Clare Pioneer Football Team on an excellent season. This was the first time that I had ever gone to Ford Field. It was unbelievable on how many people from the Clare area attended the game. The Monday after the game Clare put on one heck of a parade for their team. Undersheriff Stevens and I were fortunate enough to participate in the event. Hats off to the Clare Marching Band for putting on an awesome half time performance during the game.
Â
I want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year. Please be safe out there in your travels over the holidays. Your Deputies will be out there 24 hours a day to assist in anyway they can.
Â
Like always, GOD Bless
