Some Say Haiti earthquakes beginning of the end

Is the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti a sign that the world is changing?

Some experts would certainly tell us that.

The Haiti earthquake, which measured a monsterous 8 on the Richter scale, is responsible for over 200,000 deaths in the Haitian capitol of Port Au Prince. Another 1.5 million people are said to be homeless.

Haiti, already one of the world’s most impoverished countries, now faces a humongous rebuilding effort, much like New Orleans did after Hurricane Katrina. The major difference however, is that New Orleans devastation doesn’t hold a candle to what happened in Haiti.

Port Au Prince is a city of 2,000,000 people. Ten percent of those people are now dead. Three-quarters of the population is living in tents (if they are lucky) because their homes have been destroyed. I don’t think anyone can comprehend the devastation that has taken place.

So while aid pours in to the island nation, others are predicting this is the beginning of the end. Some say this is the beginning of numerous natural disasters that will culminate in a new world order in 2012.

Supposedly these seers point to the magical date of December 21, 2012. On that date the Mayan calendar ends. As a civilized Indian nation, the Mayans, although long gone, were able to predict many world events, and supposedly, once their calendar stops turning pages, the world will undergo massive changes.

In combination with the Mayan calendar is the fact that the Milky Way is expected to come into alignment with the Earth, on that date. This happens once every 26,000 years, and each time the Earth goes through cataclysmic changes.

And then there is Planet X, the infamous 10th planet. Planet X, again on December 21, 2012, is to enter our solar system. It will look like two suns, and according to prognosticators will greatly disturb the alignment of the Earth to the sun and other planets, and possibly, creating environmental chaos for us.

Believe it or not? Of course I don’t. But I do find it extremely interesting that dozens of indicators show that 2012 is the year of our demise. Just in case, I’ve already got plans for an underground shelter, stocked for 180 days. After all, we can’t be too careful- at least that’s what my mother always told me!

Do you honestly believe your basement is going to “save you” ?

Just to clarify my last post… If the scenario you’ve painted were to truly happen, which personally I feel is not even necessary to be concerned about, hiding in a shelter would be completely useless and would simply be done in vain when you really think about it..

Any of us could just as easily be killed walking across the street at any given time, God forbid.. Not to mention this kind of worry creates “fear” in us drawing us further away from where our focus in life perhaps truly ought to be.. – helping one another.. what’s really important in life? Physically selfishly saving ourselves from an untimely death we have no control over anyways, or spiritually preparing ourselves so that we are ready for the afterlife?

Well, of course that would depend on if one is a believer in God or not… If we believe in God, then perhaps our focus ought to be on who God calls us to be so that we are prepared and ready that we be saved after death, rather than how we can save ourselves from a physical death we have no control over anyways… and if an atheist? Well, there’s an ole saying that stems from way back in WWII, that says, “There’s no such thing as an atheist in a fox hole when you got bombs dropping all around you!” Perhaps, it’s a good time for people to do a little ’soul searchin’… Okay, I’m done preaching now..

By the way, I’m heading down to Haiti with a humanitarian aid team about mid February to help in relief efforts there… Please remember us and especially the suffering people of this nation in your prayers while your building your bunker…

    God bless, John

    Dear John,
Your last paragraph was a wee bit holier than thou. I’m sure you didn’t mean to sound so self-righteous. Try loosening that halo of yours, we don’t know what the article’s author does as far as charitable works goes..

  4. John on January 30th, 2010 at 2:58 pm

My apologies if I came across as self-righteous.. Just found it kind of insulting that while the article began sympathetic towards the suffering people of Haiti, it ended with an invitation for everyone to run the other way and hide rather than to offer help…

I struggle when I see others struggling around the world and an invitation to run the other way is being publicly promoted rather then an encouragement to help in some way.. That’s how I see this article.. But you’re right, I certainly don’t know the heart of it’s author and cannot judge…

  5. John on January 30th, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Having said that, please don’t misconstrue criticizing the message with criticizing the messenger.. For all I know the author could easily be much holier than I, or be a greater contributor to charity than I… and I say that with all sincerity.. My remarks were simply in reply to the article and not meant as a personal attack on the author..

As for the comment I made that you felt I was being self-righteous.. Well, in any situation where our brethren are in dire need of help we have a choice to make.. either turn and walk away or jump in to help wherever we can help… Not everyone can help the same way and it does not make me any better a person simply because I’m blessed with an opportunity to go to Haiti and help… Those unable to go can still help in many ways that are just as important.. We are all each parts of one body that make up a whole.. people can make donations.. People can sponsor a family or a child.. People can pray … And people can use their access to the media to promote and encourage help where help is needed.. That what I was suggesting in the words I spoke.. So again, it was never my intent to come across self-righteous, but to simply change the invitation from one of running the other way to hide, to one of taking a leap of faith by coming forward to help those in need when help is needed..

People have helped me all of my life.. Now I’m being given an opportunity to help and as a believer I thank God for that because personally, I believe I can do absolutely nothing that bears good fruit without God’s help.. If that makes me come across as self-righteous because I felt the need to call a spade a spade then so be it… But again, it’s not about me being better than anyone.. It’s about all of us coming out of our protective shells to step forward and to help one another..

“Where is Jesus in agony in our own time?
In the division of our world into belts of prosperity
and belts of poverty … this is Christ’s agony today.
Our world is made of two rooms:
in one room, things go to waste,
    in the other, people are wasting away;
in one room, people die from surfeit,
    in the other, they die from indigence;
in one room, they are concerned about obesity,
in the other, they are begging for charity.

Why don’t we open a door?
Who don’t we sit at one table?
Why don’t we realize that the poor
    can help the rich?
Why? Why? Why are we so blind?

Be prepared for 2014, not 2012.
Christ came for 33 years. Now His Mother comes for 33 years. The world dramatically changes at the end of her 33 years. She is here. Now! She will not come again. Be prepared. She leads us to her Son. Will we listen?
God bless and enlighten us, and have mercy on us, who are so bold as to reject Your image, Your Spirit, that You breathed into us, to make us in Your Likeness. Have mercy on us, O Lord.

Well I for one don’t think that John was being self righteous! Most of us would do well to pay heed to what he says.

    Luke 21:11 (King James Version)

11And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Mary cannot help or save us: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (II Timothy 2:5). Jesus predicted the earthquakes, not Mary. Jesus predicted the end of the world, not Mary. Beware of demonic apparitions claiming to be of God. Look to the Lord and be save: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Jesus saves, never Mary.
